  • Warehouse Shifts

    We have weekly volunteer shifts at our warehouse located at 401 Domino Ln in Roxborough. Volunteers help pack boxes of food, organize food to create pallets, and do additional tasks around the warehouse. A few days a week, volunteers sort produce and bread. You can sign up to sort produce HERE.

  • Emmanuel Meals

    We also need helpers at our Emmanuel hot meal service every Saturday at Resurrection Church, 123 S. 17th St, in Center City.

    These shifts run from 9-11am & 11am-1pm, and volunteers help prepare the meal, serve and wait tables, and clean up. No previous cooking experience is required!

  • Small Things Market: Fairhill

    Small Things Market is open Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to distribute food and resources for the community. Volunteers will check guests in and help them shop through the pantry, restock shelves, clean, and perform various other tasks. Customer service experience and Spanish language skills are a plus!

  • Small Things Market: Hunting Park

    The Small Things Market at House of Hope in Hunting Park is open Saturday mornings to distribute food and resources to the community. Volunteers will check guests in and help them shop through the pantry, restock shelves, clean, and perform various other tasks. Customer service experience and Spanish language skills are a plus!

Group / Corporate Volunteer Opportunities

We are able to accommodate larger groups of volunteers with advance notice at other times as well. If you have special skills in finance, marketing, or grant writing and would like to volunteer your expertise, please let us know by reaching out to our volunteer coordinator.

What to expect during your shift

Shifts run for two hours at the Small Things warehouse located at 401 Domino Lane.

Onsite parking is available at the warehouse and we validate parking at the Liberty Place garage for volunteers at Emmanuel.

Here are some tips on how to best manage your experience:

  • Please show up on time and sign in at the kiosk at the volunteer entrance located under the overpass.

  • If you cannot sign in on the kiosk or do not have a VOMO account, please manually sign in.

  • If you can’t make it (and we totally understand life happens!), please let us know as far in advance as possible, or cancel your VOMO reservation online.

  • The warehouse is not climate-controlled, so dress accordingly!

  • Please wear closed-toe shoes.

  • Individuals must be 13 or older.

  • Small Things is fully COVID-compliant according to city and state regulations.
