ALL OF OUR PARTNERS ARE NOW SERVSAFE CERTIFIED!

All of our 61 partners are now ServSafe certified!

We offered rounds of ServSafe training classes via Zoom in March, May, June, and September. The training is for the ServSafe Handler for Food Banking certificate, which was designed in partnership with Feeding America to offer a ServSafe training program oriented specifically to those distributing groceries.

Therefore, it focuses on aspects such as safely picking up food from a warehouse, transportation, storage, and distribution.

Special thanks to Gavin (delightedly popping leftover balloons from our Hunger Awareness Day last September) for getting this done!

EMMANUEL IS MOVING BACK INDOORS!

Emmanuel is moving back indoors on Sept 24! Emmanuel Ministry exists to serve marginalized populations in Center City – particularly individuals experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. At Emmanuel, we build connections with our guests through two methods, food and relationships.

Since covid hit, we have been serving meals take-out style. We are excited to welcome guests back indoors for hot meals, conversation, and connection. We're looking for volunteers for food prep and set, and service and clean up. Sign up here!

UPENN DONATES MEALS TO THE 5TH POLICE PRECINCT

University of Pennsylvania students donated fresh, prepared meals to the 5th District Philadelphia Police.

Students donated leftover meals from their pre-paid meal programs to Small Things, and we, in turn, donated the meals to the 5th District Police department, where our own Jack Kennedy serves as Chaplain.

We are very proud of our Development Director, Noelle, who drove the Sprinter van to the Penn Campus to pick up the meals then and dropped them off in Roxborough without incident!
