Small Things NewsBits: Cheers for Jack

CHEERS FOR JACK!

At Small Things, we love to recognize our staff for all that they do.

Jack definitely deserves his spotlight and accolades for winning a Hero of the Community (HOC) Award.

HOC honors officers and residents of the NW Division (including the 5th, 14th, 35th, and 39th districts) who are making a difference in the community. Chaplain Jack Kennedy (right, wearing the bow tie) is Small Things' Partner Pickup Supervisor.

Pictured here are the 5th District Police and civilian winners of the Heroes of the Community Awards held on Sept. 21 at Deliverance Evangelistic Church.

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER

Epic Church, a longtime partner of Small Things, is having a prom for people with disabilities on Nov 12.

A Night to Remember is a thoughtfully designed prom for people with disabilities age 18 and older. We’re talking - full-on red carpet entrance, paparazzi, dinner, and dancing! Every guest receives VIP treatment, including a personal host for the evening. With a DJ, photo booth, karaoke stage, and more - we have no doubt this will be A Night to Remember!

Sign up here for more details and to attend or volunteer. It's going to be a blast!

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

We have plenty of space on all shifts this Thursday and Saturday. Come pack pallets of food for those in need and hang out with CJ, our excellent Volunteer Manager who keeps the good playlists going. 🎶

Shifts are offered Thursday nights from 6-7:45 PM and Saturday from 8-9:45 AM and 10-11:45 AM.

On that note...

We had a large group cancel their Thursday shift with fairly short notice due to several of its members falling ill. We appreciate the consideration that group had for all of our health and wish them a speedy recovery.

But since we still needed inventory for the week, we put out a call for help, and you responded! We want to offer a special thanks to all the amazing volunteers who filled in at the last minute!

AND WE’RE OFF!

Thank you to everyone who's joined our Small Things Add Up Campaign!

We just ordered some cool swag that will be mailed to you in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for that.

In case you missed it, the Small Things Add Up Fundraising Campaign aims to create a sustainable and reliable source of funding to support our existing and future programs by asking for smaller monthly donations.
